Saving Mr. Banks

Olá!
Como vos disse no primeiro post de hoje, trago-vos a minha opinião sobre o filme Ao Encontro de Mr. Banks.
Eu já queria ver o filme desde que ele veio para os cinemas (há um ano) mas não houve viva alma que me quisesse fazer companhia, então não o fui ver. Na altura do Natal descobri um pack que trazia este filme e o Mary Poppins (um dos meus filmes favoritos) e achei que era uma óptima oportunidade para os ter e ver finalmente o filme. Só o vi este ano, mas mais vale tarde do que nunca.
E valeu mesmo! Adorei o filme! O título em inglês fazia-me um pouco de confusão, porque não percebia o sentido, em português consegui associar quase logo ao que ia dando no filme. No fim consegui perceber o porquê do "saving" e acho que faz muito mais sentido o título em inglês do que em português.
É um filme que nos conta a luta de Walt Disney teve que travar durante 20 anos para conseguir com que a história da Mary Poppins, escrita por P.L.Travers, saísse do papel e passasse para o grande ecrã. A autora tentou durante essas duas décadas evitar que isso acontecesse, pois o livro tem uma história muito mais pessoal do que se podia pensar, embora não tivesse nada de concreto que tivesse acontecido com a escritora, pois a sua vida, naquele ponto, já tinha atingido pontos mais dramáticos do que o livro/filme atingia. Mas não se preocupem porque o filme também tem momentos para rir!
Como todos sabemos, lá se conseguiu levar a Mary Poppins para o ecrã e é todo esse caminho que podemos ver em Ao Encontro de Mr. Banks, desde as músicas que compunham (e que não faziam parte do livro, pelo menos não em forma de música), às roupas que os actores teriam de usar, às alterações feitas no texto, etc. Todas as reuniões entre P.L.Travers e os guionistas foram gravadas, sendo que durante o filme a autora (interpretada por Emma Thompson) a perguntar "isto está a gravar?", de modo a ter uma prova de tudo o que era feito (no fim do filme, já nos créditos, há um pequeno excerto de uma destas gravações, e eu juro que me comovi). Há medida que se vão tomando decisões ou que P.L.Travers recusa algo há também imagens que nos levam para a sua infância de modo a percebermos o porquê de agir assim. Tudo faz sentido.
Não vos vou explicar o significado do título, porque não quero estragar o filme a ninguém, mas é esse momento, em que percebemos o "saving", que mais nos comovemos.
Por trás de uma das histórias mais conhecidas do mundo, está uma mulher de armas com uma história trágica de infância.

Se ainda não viram, recomendo! Se já viram, digam-me o que acharam! Passou a ser um dos meus filmes favoritos e estou muito feliz por o ter em DVD.

As I said in today's first post, I bring you my opinion of the film Saving Mr. Banks.
I've wanted to see the movie since it came to theaters (a year ago) but there was not anyone who wanted to keep me company, so I did not watch it. At Christmas time I discovered a pack that brought this film and Mary Poppins (one of my favorite movies) and thought it was a great opportunity to have it and finally see the movie. I only saw it this year, but better late than never.
And it really was! Loved the movie! The title in English made me a bit of confusion, because I did not understood the meaning and in portuguese was more adequate to almost the entire movie. In the end I could see why they used "saving" and I think that makes much more sense the title in English than in Portuguese.
It's a film where we can see the fight that Walt Disney had had for 20 years to get to the story of Mary Poppins, written by P.L.Travers, leave the paper and passed to the big screen. The author tried during these two decades avoid it, because the book has a much more personal story than one might have thought, though he had nothing concrete that had happened to the writer, although her life at that point had reached most dramatic points tha the book / movie had reached. But don't worry because this movie has a lot of moments to laugh as well.
As we all know, Mary Poppins became a movie and it is all this way we can see in Saving Mr. Banks, since the songs that made (and that were not part of the book, at least not in the form of music), to the clothes that the actors would have to use, the changes made to the text, etc. All meetings between P.L.Travers and screenwriters were recorded, and during the movie the author (played by Emma Thompson) is always asking "is this recording?" in order to have proof of all that was done (in the end of the film, in the credits, there is a small excerpt from one of these recordings, and I swear I was crying). There are, as they are taking decisions or P.L.Travers refusal something, images that take us to her childhood to realize why she decided things the way she did. It all makes sense.
I am not going to explain the meaning of the title, because I do not want to spoil the movie to anyone, but the moment we understand the meaning of "saving" in the title is one of the more touching moments of the movie.
Behind of one of the best-known stories in the world, is a woman of weapons with a tragic history of her childhood.

If not seen yet, I recommend! If ever seen, tell me what you think! It became one of my favorite movies and I'm very happy to have the DVD.
